5th Lock Passes Independent Load Testing

The 5th Lock Container Lock recently passed an independent structural integrity test. The 5th Lock succesfully passed testing up to an applied load of 4,920Kg. A competiitor's mild steel container lock was also tested for comparision and was found to fail at 1,082Kg.

"5th Locks are manufactured from high tensile carbon steel which is laser cut, furnaced, hardened and tempered. Locks made from mild steel will fail once crow bars and leverage tools are inserted" said Rakesh Arroon from 5th Lock Cargo, Truck & Trailer Locking Systems .

"Container locks manufactured poorly will result in thousands of Rands lost as a result of container / fridge freezer break-ins. Weak generic clamps can be stretched off in seconds at traffic stops, riots, road works etc" he added.

The company also released a certificate on the quenching oil which is used to harden the steel. The lock was independently tested to a Rockwell Hardness value of 46.
